What is Pharmacokinetics?

Pharmacokinetics provides a mathematical basis to assess the time course of drugs and their effects in the body. It enables quantification of Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion processes and determine the drug concentration in the body. A fundamental understanding of these parameters is required to design an appropriate drug regimen for human. Therefore Pharmacokinetics (PK) Studies are key activities of early drug development.

PRADO conducts regular preclinical PK studies and can also customize it based the clients’ requirements. We have a third-party collaboration for bioanalysis.

PRADO performs following PK studies:

1. Typical animal PK study by various routes viz oral, intravenous (bolus and infusion), intraperitoneal, sub-cutaneous, intra-muscular, intra-nasal, intra-rectal or intra-ocular.
2. Single, multiple and cassette dosing of compound(s)
3. Dose escalation study (dose linearity and range finding)
4. Tissue distribution study (brain, heart, liver, lung, kidney, Eye etc.)
5. Rank-ordering compounds/formulations
6. Determination of fundamental PK parameters (Tmax, Cmax, AUC, clearance, oral bioavailability, volume of distribution, etc.)
7. Blood brain barrier
8. PK-PD Evaluation
Species used - Rat, Mice, Rabbit, Guinea Pig; Pig, Dog (3rd Party Collaboration)

Biological Matrices

1. Blood/plasma/urine/faeces
2. Bile, Cerebrospinal fluid
3. Various tissues such as brain, lung, heart, liver, kidney, spleen, skeletal muscle
4. Ocular tissues like aqueous humor, vitreous humor, lens, cornea, optic nerve
